Global Challenges
According to the United Nations, extreme poverty is defined as living on the equivalent of about $1.90 a day. About 800 Million People, roughly 11% of the world’s population, are living under these conditions. There is no single cause of poverty, but rather a mix of causes and effects that perpetuate poverty in communities and countries all over the world. Restricted access to basic resources, the effect of global conflict, and inequality are just a few of the problems facing impoverished communities.
